As I near my 40th year, it's high time that I put it in writing...at least the start of the list anyway.
And away we go...in no particular order.
1- Learn to play the violin.
2- Finish my nursing degree.
3- Go to the sundance film festival.
4- A " do over" honeymoon...Hawaii maybe ( I got food poisoning on the original.)
5- Take our kids on a trip for a couple of weeks...somewhere we've never been.
6- Career change...I want to help people by working in the healthcare profession.
7- See my kids graduate from college.
8- Travel with Evan...France, Greece, Italy...
9- Take dance lessons.
10- Grow a garden in our back yard.
11- Learn to use a sewing machine and to knit more than just scarves.
12- Make a giant book of photos and memories for each of our boys.
13- See our boys find the loves of their lives and hopefully experience
parenthood.
14- Get another tattoo...or maybe even two.
15- I want to see my first born baby girl who I placed for adoption, when I was 16.
Love your list! I'm curious re: the tat...I always told myself I'd get one when I turned thirty, but that was oh, a year ago. Ahem. I'm assuming I keep chickening out mostly 'cause my Mother would faint and I'd be subject to a 5-hour lecture on how silly that will look when I turn 80. Dear Mom, if and when I make it to 80, I highly doubt I'll give a shit. What do you have now (if it's not too personal) and what do you want to get?
ReplyDeleteHey there lady...well you're just a little spring chickadee then...plenty of time to build up the courage to get a tattoo...and fess up to your mom. I have two small ones...a little butterfly on my ankle that I got when I was in college...it needs some touch up work...and the Chinese symbol for joy on my back. I'd like another little butterfly (for my daughter) to keep the one on my ankle company...and a couple of little ladybugs (for my boys)...maybe on my wrist or arm somewhere. And this is cliche...but I'd like some kind of something for my husband...not his name on my ass or anything...but something...still figuring that out. Any ideas for what you'd like?
ReplyDeleteOh, sadly I'm not still 30...that's been 7 years now....still spring chickie? I like the sound of what you have already - and glad you're steering clear of etching your husband's name on your ass. Unless of course his name is "Coconut Cracking"...that would be cool, eh? One word on each cheek. I'm thinking if I go down with it, it'll be a script or quote of some sort, maybe on my back. But the ones I like are rather long...I'll keep you posted! As you're a veteran in this arena, I'll be running ideas past you once I get the nerve.
ReplyDeleteps. I really enjoyed your holiday photos! You have such a beautiful family. What do you use to get the polaroid effect? Photoscape? Later gator.
I was also wondering...and this may be too personal...but you mentioned a butterfly for your daughter but I don't see any photos of her. My heart already feels heavy and I don't want to ask.
ReplyDeleteAaah, #15...I can only imagine how sweet that reunion will be. It'll happen.
ReplyDeleteWell you are a year younger than I am little chickie! Yes indeed...send those tattoo ideas my way. I'd love to hear what you come up with! I loved your year end recap photos too..you have a gorgeous family. Those babies...I could just eat them up. I use Instagram to make my i pad pics look kind of old timey. I'm addicted...you should try it because it's all sorts of fun! As for my daughter...ask whatever you like. She will always be my firstborn and my only girl...she is in my heart forever and I am always happy to talk about her. Have at it...what would you like to know, lady?
ReplyDeleteYou take those pics with iPad? Oh, I have much to learn...just got one however I thought you needed an iPhone to use instagram. Goody! (or not...I'm sure it'll be added to my growing list of addictions)
ReplyDeleteCan you contact your daughter now or do you have to wait until she's 18? Or, maybe 21 in the states...I just pray that you'll get your reunion. I think you will. xo
I sure do...my digital camera is a piece of shit, so I've taken to shooting with my iPad and it does a pretty decent job if there's good light. I do all of my blogging on it, as well. It's pretty awesome and I'm new to it too...this was a b day gift from my dad. I LOVE it and I'm not a gadget girl at all. You can get a free Instagram app through your iPad.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure that I could contact Ali through the agency we used at any time, but I've always felt it best to leave it up to her. I feel like we'll see her again someday. She's 22 now, so I think maybe after college...or when she has her own babies. And...a little tidbit for you...Miles is her full biological brother, so there's that too. I married Ali's dad when I was 21...M was born when I was 24 and we separated when I was 26. That's the short story. We corresponded with Ali's parents until she was around 12 years old and then it tapered off which was fine...I never anticipated that they would stay in touch for that long. Anyway...when she's ready, she has a huge group of people over here just waiting to see her!
